To new beginnings
Join me in my journey of a self-taught Software Engineer, startup co-founder, an international student in the UK, a bookworm and a martial-arts practitioner
how I got here
My name is Htoo Lynn (or Chester) and I started writing last year around June 2023, mainly about Amazon Web Services, softwares and technology on dev.to. Prior to that, I have never written a single blog post nor even thought about writing because I have always considered my writing as “average”.
After my very first blog post, I try to show it to a couple of my colleagues and friends, collected feedback and they pointed out areas that I could improve on. I then discovered technical writing, generally writing and ever since, I have really really enjoyed the process of reading and writing my thoughts down to share it with the world.
whoami
I am an international student currently studying Computer Science in the United Kingdom while working as a Cloud Engineer. I have co-founded a startup in the medical technology industry for doctors and practitioners to automate their admin processes back home in Myanmar. I taught myself how to code when I was 14 and ever since, my learning has never halted. At the same time, I am also a 21-years old kid who is trying to figure out life and loves reading book, mainly non-fictional and self-improvement. I am usually on my computer, sometimes going out or cooking but always eating.
why start a newsletter
I have always loved sharing what I know or learn with other people, and I enjoy reading books. Sometimes, there are some snippets that I really would love to share with other people. My another goal is to learn in public, which is something that I’ve been forcing myself into for the past few months. I will also be sharing what I am working on, what I’m learning about, my life experiences (both in terms of life in general and professional environment) and mistakes that I’ve made (both professionally and personally).
what you can expect here
My posts will be divided into 3 categories mainly (for now, I might add more in the future), mainly around:
Life - life in general, our lives, relationships, my life as an introvert and how I navigate through life.
Books - I read around 2-3 books a month, at least one a month. I want to share what I learn or find anything interesting from the book or anything that is a good food for thought. I mainly read books around psychology, self-improvement, fictional, biography, technology and science, and finance.
Technology and Engineering - I am not a big-shot FAANG software engineers or anything like that. I just like to play with computers and write code. I used to work as a Software Engineer for around 2-3 years and now I am currently transitioning into DevOps (at the time of writing) and founded a SaaS startup in medical-technology field. I will just be sharing what I encounter from my day-to-day life and mistakes. I will mainly be posting it from my another publication engineeringbylynn, below is a post on what you can expect out of that.
There may be cases where these categories overlap because sometimes I reflect my actions and/or thoughts from my work or books I’ve read and how that related to my personal experiences. I plan to write a newsletter at least once a week depending on my availability and my schedule, but sometimes if I find more free time and find something really interesting, maybe two.
I hope this convinces you to join my newsletter and if you do, click the Subscribe now button below and I won’t disappoint you. I am not a professional writer so if there are mistakes, please let me know either at my twitter or just shoot me a message.
I enjoyed reading your newsletter Htoo.
I’m looking forward to read about your “books” post
